VELUX Modular Skylights in Nørrebro Library | VELUX Commercial

Nørrebro Library took up residence in a disused tram depot. In its day, the building was topped with ridgelights; these have been recreated in homage to the buildings' past with contemporary ridgelights from VELUX Commercial. The new skylights give the library the option of adjusting the daylighting using blinds and creating a pleasant indoor climate by means of natural ventilation. Many local library-goers enjoy spending time in the space, where many of them read and study for hours.

Prefabricated VELUX modular skylights were selected by the contractor due to their competitive pricing and speed of installation. It took three men a single day to install the modular skylight. The VELUX ridgelight used consists of 22 fixed and 6 opening modules, which also act as smoke vents in the event of a fire. There are also remote-controlled white roller blinds.
