Importance of Acoustics

  • Reflection
    In large spaces with natural or limited sound, reflection helps it to reach all spots in a space. Sounds reflecting off different surfaces might reach the listener in different intervals.
  • Scattering
    In order to eliminate the undesired effects, the sound needs to be treated with both absorption and scattering.
  • Absorption
    It is mandatory to eliminate pollution caused by reflections in order to reach sound clarity. It is undesired pollution when a sound coming from a certain direction reflects after reaching the opposite end and in such a case the sound should be absorbed.

Acoustic Solutions

  • Corner Panels
    Sound waves reflect more on corners with right angles; using sound-absorbing panels on corners will increase the acoustic quality of the space.
  • Sound Scattering Surfaces
    When sound is absorbed excessively it will become dull and unnatural. Especially, in spaces such as movie theaters where one wants to feel as if she is in a different place or in public spaces such as restaurants and bars where it shouldn’t be too silent remaining lively while avoiding sound acoustical glare, in these cases, it is recommended to scatter the sound.
  • Heavy Panels
    Reverberation time is the time that elapses from the surfaces in the room to the attenuation of the reflected sounds. It is directly proportional to the volume of the space while it is inversely proportional to the absorbing characteristics of the materials within the space. Mass is an effective reductor of reverberation; the weight of the panels decreases the vibrations, thus contributing to the acoustic quality.
  • Isolating Panels
    Reaching an acoustic quality also means to be able to prevent sounds from outside the space from penetrating inside and vice versa. It is important to use isolators for this purpose.
