Acoustic Panel System in XFEL | Kvadrat Acoustics

European XFEL is a scientific research facility that opened in Hamburg in 2017. The new building includes offices, meeting rooms and social spaces. The interior concept by Blunck und Morgen HH architects brings together a variety of soft furnishings, neutral tones and bolder highlight colors including Kvadrat Acoustic panels. The function of the building is to generate ultrashort X-ray flashes, enabling scientists to map the atomic detail of viruses and take 3-D images of the nanoworld.

Solution

Acoustic Broadline panels are used in a variety of meeting rooms and the spacious lobby. The panels were specified in finishes to match the surfaces, colors and furniture in the facility. They enhance the quality of the acoustic environment, making it easier to conduct conversations by incorporating acoustic padding behind a textile layer.

Soft Cells are acoustic panels from Kvadrat Acoustics, primarily used as building components, they are also suitable for post-fitting. Made with recycled aluminum and with a textile finish the acoustic panels are tensioned to withstand humidity and temperature conditions. They can be re-upholstered and their components reused as often as required.
