The Great Belt-Storebælt East Bridge, between Zealand and Sprogø is 6,790m long. It consists of a sub-structure and a superstructure. The sub-structure is comprised of pylons, anchor blocks, bridge piers and abutments, while the steel superstructure is comprised of spans and cables. The Falcon Spider Lift FS320Z was selected to facilitate the maintenance of the bridge as the jib-arm allows it to reach all corners of the bridge sub-structure.
The compactness of the FS320Z allowed the lift to be hoisted down from the roadway onto the anchor-blocks with a crane. This model has zero tail-swing which allows the boom to rotate while the outriggers are set up. This features us well suited to working in tight spaces and allows the operator to position the platform very close to the working surface. The compact design, flexibility, minimum weight, maximum reach and safety features made the Falcon Spider Lift FS320Z the right choice for this challenging application.
