The Canal Dock Boathouse is the centerpiece for waterfront sports and recreation on the Quinnipiac River in New Haven. It serves as the home for the Yale University crew teams and can host community events on a large outdoor dock or in its indoor multipurpose rooms.
The building replaces the historic George Adee Memorial Boathouse, built in 1911 that was razed in 2007 to make room for a new bridge across the Quinnipiac River. The boathouse honors the rich history of its predecessor by incorporating elements salvaged from the last boathouse, including the front entrance, a staircase and a fireplace.
