Kalwall is a translucent, structural sandwich panel which uses prismatic glass fibers embedded in the panels face sheets. The glass prisms refract sunlight to provide a balanced, diffuse wash of glare-free light. Kalwall low-maintenance translucent canopies are a smart investment. Leaves and bird debris remain unseen from below, and the diffuse light and low contrast ratios they provide is a safety feature for people in transit.
At night, the canopies shine with a soft glow from nearby artificial lighting. During the day Kalwall provides full spectrum, natural visible light, without distorting color rendition. During the manufacturing process, panels are fitted with translucent insulation to reduce solar heat gains. The economical lightweight panels weigh 1/3 less than glass, meaning less substructure, and longer spans.
