Sancal Diseño started out manufacturing classic, French-style chairs. Four decades on, the company has decided to revisit its origins and borrow from the past. The Swedish design Studio Note cleverly reinterpreted our Marie Antoinette-style vanity chair last year. After receiving an excellent reception, Note have added a new member to the family: thus the petite Tonella has presented the birth of its parents.
Spanish wine barrels remain the inspiration for the new, larger sofa and armchair. The straight line quilting runs down the outside of the piece, like staves, contrasting with the smooth interior cushions. The Marie Antoinette-style seat, back and arms are made from moulded polyurethane foam. The plain interior area can be upholstered in fabric or leather; however the outer quilting is only available in fabric.
