Products Used: Translucent building elements - light-weight polycarbonate tongue and groove panels
In 2016 Rodeca's polycarbonate panels were used for the facade of the Diamant School in Amersfoort. For this project, MTB Architects chose the 60mm panel-type in clear color with profiles from Rodeca.
The design is distinctive in that it features a school without classrooms. The units for 3 teachers and a maximum of 75 pupils are designed as meandering spaces with two glass concentration/presentation rooms between them. An elevated playroom with a studio above it in the middle of the school gives an interesting spatial effect with views through their split-level. The transparency of Rodeca's product makes sure the children receive optimal daylight.
Rodeca panels as facade elements have a variety of advantages. They are lightweight, have high thermal insulation and a wide color choice. There is also the possibility to upgrade a facade by placing an LED-light behind it or by printing directly on the polycarbonate.
