The FlexShade® Zip exterior shading system by Draper can be used in outdoor covered spaces such as garages and porches, it keeps out harsh glare and provides a more comfortable environment. The zip detail in the shade stops the shade fabric from being pulled out of the side channel. The shade system also protects against wind and insects.
Exterior shades that facilitate solar control by reducing solar heat gain are an integral solution for sustainable architecture. The daylighting strategy of a green building is made easy with custom shading which can both provide glare control shading and let in natural light.
Draper is the only North American manufacturer of zip systems to use wind-tunnel testing in North America. FlexShade ZIP is wind-tunnel tested in winds up to 150 mph. The tests also show that FlexShade ZIP can withstand wind speeds of up to 100 mph when in the down position. The wind resistance of an exterior shade system comes from extruded aluminum side channels that incorporate plastic inner channels. Additionally, cushioning pads dampen fabric movement while “zip” details attached to the fabric’s edges keep it in place.
