ApplicationsFlooring in retail spaces
CharacteristicsResistance and durability. Warm natural feeling
The IJ-passage gallery inaugurated in 2015 was the first tranche of the Amsterdam Passages project, by Merk-X Architecten, Benthem Crouwel Architects, Powerhouse Company, recently completed with the completion of the second gallery in early 2017. Ceramiche Refin provided the floors for this project.
Located inside Amsterdam Central Station, the galleries are connected to the station but arranged in a separate location.
The first gallery is dedicated to luxury shopping. It includes numerous boutiques and commercial activities, the second welcomes clubs and restaurants where you can enjoy fresh food and contemporary cuisine.
Along the way you will find a selection of exclusive fashion brands set in a careful architectural context: contemporary design and classic influences, traditional elements and high-tech solutions, studied lighting and handcrafted details create an immersive experience.
The main axis is marked by polished concrete columns, marble benches and shop facades in glass, beams and steel. Chrome finishes, stone cladding and dark materials recall a romantic night-time street, thanks in part to the Parisian inspired lanterns from the 1920s above the columns.
In such large spaces, flooring is fundamental to define the environment. The Trail collection by Ceramiche Refin, chosen in the Dark variant for the entire 3,700-metre2 construction, is inspired by oak wood: the essence conveys its noble value of strength and durability, while at the same time giving a warm natural feeling and remaining in perfect harmony with all other materials.
