Accoya® Wood at Metrolinx Train Station | Accoya

Accoya® is a modified wood produced through a patented acetylation process that alters the cell structure of sustainably sourced timber to improve its durability, dimensional stability, and moisture resistance. Accoya® wood was selected by Metrolinx for exterior timber applications within its transport infrastructure.

The material was specified for its natural wood appearance, durability, and long-term performance in exterior conditions. Accoya® is covered by a 50-year warranty against rot and decay in above-ground applications, supporting its use for exposed timber elements and reducing maintenance and replacement requirements over the service life of the components.

The Accoya® timber components used for the project were processed by Geometrik Manufacturing in West Kelowna, British Columbia, before being incorporated into the finished application.
