More about this product

Accoya® is a modified wood created through a patented acetylation process that alters the cell structure of sustainably sourced timber to improve its durability, dimensional stability, and moisture resistance, trusted by architects, manufacturers, and homeowners since 2007.

Accoya® windows and doors are a range of solid wood joinery components. They are engineered for long-term dimensional stability and durability in exterior applications. Low moisture uptake and minimal shrinkage/swelling help windows and doors open and close smoothly throughout the year, while also extending coating life and reducing maintenance requirements. The wood is recyclable at the end of its service life.

Product Features

  • Highly stable, with shrinkage and swelling substantially lower than other wood species.
  • Naturally insulating, with thermal performance up to 30% better than both hardwood and 8% better than softwood, achieving a higher U-value for comparable window designs.

Technical Information

Accoya® for windows and doors is produced from acetylated Radiata pine, available in standard board lengths of 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 feet, in thicknesses ranging from 7/8" to 12/4" and widths from 4" to 12", depending on thickness.

  • A 20-year canal lining durability test shows limited visible deterioration in Accoya® wood compared with more extensive deterioration in non-Accoya wood.
  • In a TRADA shrinkage test, Accoya® wood shows approximately 2% shrinkage, compared with more than 4% for teak and iroko, over 6% for sapele, and nearly 8% for Scots pine.
  • In a thermal conductivity test, Accoya® wood shows a thermal conductivity between 0.10 and 0.15 W/mK, compared with approximately 0.15 W/mK for softwood and 0.20 W/mK for hardwood.
Durability Class 1 (highest durability class), EN 350 & EN 335
