Translucency, natural light diffusion, lightweight construction, weather resistance, thermal performance, durability, Précontraint® technology
Serge Ferrari designs, develops, and manufactures innovative composite fabrics for light architectural and exterior landscaping applications. Tenseo Advanced 1002 S2 and Tenseo Advanced 902 S2 membranes were used in the Marie-José Pérec Sports and Cultural Center, a public sports, cultural, and educational facility in La Bouëxière, France.
Designed by Onze04 Architectes, the project responds to the need for a new multipurpose facility capable of accommodating sports competitions, performances, seminars, and community events. The building forms part of a larger public complex connected to existing sports and cultural facilities, with a new pedestrian axis linking surrounding neighborhoods, facilities, and natural areas.
A continuous white textile envelope covers both the roof and façades, supported by a timber structure. Tenseo Advanced 1002 S2 covers approximately 2,900 square meters of the roof, while Tenseo Advanced 902 S2 covers approximately 3,150 square meters of the façades. The translucent membranes diffuse natural light throughout the interior and provide weather resistance and thermal performance. At night, the textile envelope becomes a backlit architectural feature, transforming the building into an illuminated landmark.
