More about this product

FIBRAN is a Greek manufacturer of insulation materials founded in Thessaloniki in 1974, producing thermal, acoustic, and fire-protection solutions for European and international markets. The company presents FIBRANgeo, a stone wool insulation made from natural inorganic mineral fibers and used for thermal insulation, sound insulation, and fire protection. The line is formed into rigid, semi-rigid, and flexible boards, rolls, and loose material in a range of dimensions, with optional facings for specific applications.

Production Process

FIBRANgeo is produced by melting mineral rock in an electric furnace at 1520°C before fiberizing. The electric furnace allows controlled melting conditions, and the stable temperatures produce dimensionally uniform fibers and consistent characteristics in the finished product. The process does not rely on fossil fuels such as coke as its primary energy source, which reduces gaseous emissions during production. After fiberizing, a binding resin, oil, and silicate compounds are added to give the material cohesion, elasticity, and water repellency.

Performance

As a non-combustible mineral insulation, FIBRANgeo is used in fire-protection strategies for building envelopes, compartment walls, and OEM components such as fire-rated doors and chimneys. Its fibrous structure absorbs sound and reduces airborne sound transmission in partition walls, floating floors, and ceilings. The material is vapor-permeable, allowing building elements to dry out and supporting passive ventilation, while remaining water-repellent and non-hygroscopic. It is dimensionally stable, chemically inert, odorless, recyclable, and can be cut and handled on site with standard tools.
