Custom electric sliding shutters from EHRET — the PL-LO model with perforated aluminum panels — were used in the LKA Schwerin Laboratory and Administration Building of the Landeskriminalamt Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Schwerin, Germany.
The striking green sliding elements provide dynamic sun shading, façade expression, and thermal comfort while complementing the building’s free-form design in a landscape conservation area.

The LKA Schwerin project involved the construction of a new laboratory and administrative building for the criminal investigation department set within a former barracks complex in the Schwerin Lake District Landscape Conservation Area. Designed by BHBVT Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH, the building breaks deliberately with the rigid existing structures through its sculptural form. Its façade design incorporates striking EHRET sliding shutters that emphasize architectural rhythm and create atmospheric effects with light and color. The project received the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Building Award in 2006 for its architectural achievements.
Product in Use
To meet high architectural and performance requirements, a total of 137 electrically operated EHRET PL-LO sliding shutter panels were installed. These shutters feature perforated aluminum panels mounted on custom-bent running rails and special roller guides that follow the curvature of the façade. The varied green color tones (NCS 1080-G30Y, NCS 1075-G40Y, NCS 1075-G60Y) enrich the façade with depth and vibrant visual character. In addition to expressive design, the shutters support optimal solar control and contribute to thermal comfort inside the building.
