EHRET is a manufacturer of premium aluminum façade and shutter systems that combine architectural quality with functional performance.
Folding sliding shutters from EHRET — including MATRICO-SL12 with expanded metal infill and PLANO-SL12 with smooth sheet metal infill — were used in the Turley Urban District, a recently completed mixed-use residential quarter in Mannheim, Germany.
The project’s façade design integrates these shutters to deliver adaptable solar shading, façade articulation, and spatial connectivity while contrasts with a monolithic brick architectural language.

The Turley Urban District transforms the former Turley Barracks site into a self-sufficient urban quarter comprising two residential buildings, a daycare center, and an existing structure. Designed by Max Dudler, the development features a minimalist architectural language inspired by the historic context, where simple materials like solid brick, reinforced concrete, and aluminum define the new neighborhood’s character. The narrow streets and central urban square reinforce a human-scaled spatial structuring.
Product in Use
A total of 502 EHRET folding sliding shutters were installed across the facades. The MATRICO-SL12 model with expanded metal infill creates transparent mesh-like views with controlled light modulation, while the PLANO-SL12 variant delivers complete shading where needed. Finished in a custom IGP-classic 591T copper tone, the shutters provide both functional solar control and visual contrast to the monolithic brick facades, enhancing architectural presence and comfort.
