Sto is a global manufacturer of facade systems and external wall insulation solutions for new construction and renovation projects. Sto's prefabricated render elements and insulation systems were used in Waaggebouw, a residential building with a community centre, located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The building is part of a long-term urban revitalisation of the Woensel-West district, historically a working-class area. Designed by NEXT architects, Waaggebouw serves as a landmark for the neighbourhood, featuring a bold orange facade, oversized window openings, and stepped upper floors. The ground floor houses a community centre that opens directly onto Celsiusplein, while the upper floors accommodate apartments of different sizes. The project combines social, residential, and architectural objectives to rejuvenate the district, strengthen public spaces, and promote community interaction.

The Sto prefabricated render elements were applied over a timber stud construction insulated with 36 cm thermal insulation to achieve high energy performance and deep window reveals. Horizontal shadow gaps and oversized openings were integrated to create a striking, dynamic facade, while the bright orange render harmonises with the urban colour palette. The Sto system ensures durability, low maintenance, and a visually bold finish that distinguishes the building within the revitalised district.
