Sto is a global manufacturer of facade systems and external wall insulation solutions for new construction and renovation projects. StoTherm Mineral facade insulation systems from Sto were used in Collège Claudine Hermann, a new secondary school building located in Massy, France.
The project is part of the redevelopment of the former Vilgénis site and introduces a contemporary educational facility set within a wooded landscape. Designed as a compact volume of approximately 7,200 square meters, the school is organized over three levels around a landscaped central courtyard. A concrete base supports timber-framed upper floors, combining structural efficiency with reduced environmental impact. Curved building lines and soft transitions between volumes allow the architecture to blend into its natural surroundings while meeting strict French regulations for energy performance and fire safety.

StoTherm Mineral was selected for the building envelope to meet both technical and architectural requirements. The non-combustible mineral insulation system provides high thermal performance and durability, while allowing the facade to follow the project’s curved geometry without visual interruption. Finished with a light-toned mineral render, the system contributes to a cohesive exterior identity, supports long-term energy efficiency, and reinforces the school’s contemporary, sustainable character.
