Pilkington UK, part of the NSG Group, manufactures float, coated, laminated and processed glass for architectural and technical applications. Pilkington presents the Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra range, anti-reflective glass that reduces mirror-like reflections so that what lies behind the glass can be seen clearly. Standard clear float glass reflects around 8% of visible light; with anti-reflective coatings on both sides, reflectance drops to about 1%.
Product Range
| Product | Description |
| Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra | Monolithic glass with an anti-reflective coating on one surface, typically incorporated into bespoke laminated constructions. |
| Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra DC | Dual-coated glass with anti-reflective coatings on both surfaces and a light reflectance of about 1%. |
| Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra Protect | Laminated glass with coatings on surfaces 1 and 4 and a PVB interlayer, combining 1% reflectance with safety, security and UV protection. |
Coating Properties
The coating is durable and scratch-resistant, which allows its use in exposed positions such as shopfronts. In the laminated version, the PVB interlayer filters ultraviolet radiation and helps protect displayed objects from fading.
Applications
The range is used in retail shopfronts, museum and gallery display cases, zoo and aquarium viewing windows, and control rooms where screens must be monitored without glare. At Chester Zoo it was combined with low-iron glass in the snow leopard enclosure.
