“Architectural Competitions, from Idea to Project” will be held at the auditorium of the Universidad Mayor's El Claustro Campus in Santiago. The speakers will be architects Albert Tidy, Loreto Lyon, and Tomás Villalón.

As part of the "Diálogos Arq" lecture series, the Architecture program's Critique Club at the University of Piura (UDEP) is hosting a lecture by Swiss architect Markus Breitschmid. Aimed at architecture students, architects, and the general public, the event will feature the guest speaker discussing his recent book, "Non-Referential Architecture." The event will take place on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 7:00 PM in Room A-12 at the University of Piura (Lima Campus), located at Calle Mártir José Olaya 162, Miraflores.

The ultimate aspiration of architecture is to offer its users universes that confront them with different dimensions of the world: starting with physical reality, traversing history through time and space, and arriving at symbolic aspects that express art, mysticism, and the mystery of the human condition. For society in the information age, it is essential to cultivate a connection with art through the presence of its works in daily life and within the city.

On June 20, prominent architect, urbanist, and civic designer Domenico di Siena will lead a workshop on urban interventions, sponsored by Las Condes Design. The renowned international consultant and researcher in collective intelligence and innovation processes is visiting Chile to bring together stakeholders from the public, private, and academic sectors to discuss urban interventions through the lenses of placemaking and technical urbanism.

2019 marks the tenth anniversary of the first edition held in Concepción, Chile. That pioneering congress in Latin America brought together academics, professionals, technicians, and companies from the forestry and timber sector, building a solid foundation of critical mass that, over the years, has led to productive exchanges, shared approaches, and the development of strategies among countries in the region. Subsequent editions in 2017 in Junín (Argentina) and 2018 in San Carlos (Brazil) solidified its status as a synergistic forum.

Encuentro Helvex 2019 aims to create a convergent space for design, innovation, and architecture. As the first event of its kind in Mexico, it features a series of plenary sessions led by renowned experts in these fields. The goal is to foster dialogue and participation among various working groups to propose solutions to industry challenges, with a focus on sustainability and global benefit.

Over two days, the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende will bring together diverse voices from the fields of art, literature, poetry, and art history to explore the works of Hugo Rivera-Scott and his fellow artists and poets, centered on the exhibition Ancla 637.

Opening on August 15, the exhibition presents a portrait of Brazil's largest city, narrating its rapid growth through archives, photographs, original drawings, and texts.

On March 29 at 7:00 PM, IED will host the free debate "Augmented City – Design and Creativity as Transformative Elements of Urban Territories," featuring Italian architect and urban planner Maurizio Carta (b. 1967, Palermo), Rio de Janeiro-based architect and urban planner Pedro Évora (b. 1978), and Andrea Matarazzo, with moderation by designer Alexandre Salles. The event is part of the Italian Design Day program, established by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to celebrate the influence of Italian design in cities worldwide. Maurizio Carta is the author of several publications and explores the concept of the "augmented city" in books such as Dynamics of Periphery: Atlas of Emerging Creative Resilient Habitats and Territories: Rural-Urban Strategies, both co-authored with J. Schroeder, M. Ferretti, and B. Lino, and published by Jovis, Berlin, in 2018 and 2017, respectively. He is a full professor of urban and regional planning in the Department of Architecture at the University of Palermo and serves as the ambassador for Italian Design Day 2019.

The course aims to introduce participants to theatrical architecture and its interdisciplinary context through an introduction to the history of global scenic architecture, exploring the languages that directly influenced the architecture and theatrical practice of Teat(r)o Oficina.

Under the theme URBANISMS: TEACHING, PRACTICE, LEARNING, urbBA[19] is organized around three central themes covering: 1) Urbanism as policy; 2) Teaching and Learning Experiences; and 3) Professional Practice and Action. These are intended to continue the debate process initiated in 2011, the year of its first edition, promoting cooperation between academic institutions, civil society, and public authorities, while discussing central issues regarding the promising relationship between urbanism, collective action, and the right to the city.

3rd Edition of the 'Arquitectura en corto' Series: Inside or Outside?

Presentation of the work of this Venezuelan architecture collective by co-founder Marcos Coronel. The collective defines itself as a territorial political action structure focused on developing infrastructure strategies and operations in environments characterized by unconventional urban conflicts.

This course—offered in three monthly modules (April, May, and June) of four classes each—will discuss central issues in the history of modern art through iconic works by Paul Cézanne, Louise Bourgeois, Le Corbusier, Marguerite Duras, Federico Fellini, Toyo Ito, Rem Koolhaas, Kazimir Malevich, Hannes Meyer, Aleksander Rodchenko, Arnold Schoenberg, and Giuseppe Terragni. The modules can be taken individually or sequentially. By adopting a critical and non-linear approach to the history of art and architecture, the classes will explore paradigmatic points of the field in the 20th century. The diverse group of young speakers selected—including art historians, curators, architects, and psychoanalysts—provides, in itself, an overview of contemporary art criticism and research in São Paulo.
