ArchCult '16 Symposium in South India

Archcult ’16 – the annual symposium of the Department of Architecture, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (formerly regional engineering college (REC), Tiruchirappalli) held every year in the month of March (11th, 12th & 13th ).

With an active participation of above 1000 students from over 50 colleges, Archcult has been drawing students, professionals, and pioneers from various architectural fields and eminent connoisseurs from across the country. Today, Archcult is one of the most awaited symposiums across the South India.

Archcult has witnessed prominent personalities like Ar. Patrik Schumacher of Zaha Hadid Architects, Ar. Chitra Viswanath of Biome, Ar. Karl Wadia of Hafeez Contractors, Ar. Iype Chacko of Flying Elephant Studios, Ar. Naresh Narasiman of Venkatramanan Associates, Ar. Krishnarao Jaisim of Fountainhead, Ar. P.B.Sajan of Costford, up and coming Architects like Time Magazine honouree, Ar Alok Shetty and various others.

Reach out to the Architecture and Building Community:
· The Archcult Publicity Team travels across the country and visits around 100 architecture colleges every year. This has exponentially increased Archcult’s reach, bringing in faculty and practicing professionals for active participation in the event.
· NIT Trichy has an internationally accredited Civil Engineering Program with about 500 students at UG, PG and PhD levels and a variety of Faculty Members. Meanwhile, the campus also caters to more than 5000 students pursuing UG, PG and PhD in various disciplines and a 250 odd student strength in the architecture department alone. The cultural activities and interactive workshops of ArchCult draw a huge crowd from this pool.

· The Archcult Web Site is a hub of activity owing to viewers from all over the world, students and professionals alike.
· Publicity through social media - The Archcult Facebook page have a massive following across the country.

What’s new this ArchCult?

Guest lectures by pioneers such as Shirish Beri of 'SHIRISH BERI and Associates', Bijoy Ramachandran of 'Hundredhands' studio, R. D Padmakumar of HUDCO, India, architecture journalist Apurva Bose, workshops by 'Made in Earth' among many others.

Sangath: an informal discussion between practicing professionals of the field and aspiring students about anything Architecture under the sun.

Hawker’s Street: an open air marketplace for vendors to put up their merchandise.

ArchCult Talkies: Architecture documentaries being screened for the guests and attendees.
