House on Cedar Hill / Cunningham Architects Situated at the edge of an escarpment zone, the house is organized along a native, stacked stone wall 182 feet long and 21 feet high. A cantilevered concrete canopy serves as an interruption through the wall into and through the house, briefly allowing views through the dense brush of the site towards the open vista to the west (read more…)

Vallecas Public Housing / Estudio.Entresitio This project is the result of a competition run by Madrid’s Municipal Housing Agency at the end of 2003. The philosophy of the competition was that each team would offer the best architecture solution that was able to imagine, subject to compliance with the “economic” parameters for the lot; maximum surface to be built and number of dwellings, and always considering that it is a social housing development (read more…)

Black House / Bakers Architecten In Utrecht’s museum quarter, just south of the city centre, there was for many years a vacant plot on the corner of Lange Nieuwstraat and Vrouwjuttenstraat. This site in the midst of historical buildings is now occupied by ‘Het Zwarte Huis’ (The Black House), a complex containing six apartments with semi-underground parking and the new premises of Bakers Architecten (read more…)
