Grimshaw Receives Planning Approval for Phase Two of Belfast's City Quays Masterplan

Grimshaw Architects have received full planning approval for City Quays 2, the second building planned as part of their City Quays masterplan for Belfast Harbour’s Clarendon Dock. To be built on a former ferry terminal site, City Quays 2 will stretch nine stories high and provide over 95,000 square feet of flexible work space.

The City Quays 2 building is designed to meet BREEAM’s Excellent standard, with the facade comprised of alternating shallow and deep vertical fins in order to provide solar shading. The southern faces are also enhanced with a perforated aluminium shading system.

Grimshaw's City Quays carried out a concept masterplan for the areas north, west, and south of the Harbour Office, which includes commercial offices, retail areas, cafes, hotel space and residential areas. The masterplan received planning approval in July.
