Co-curators Sana Frini and Philippe Rahm have announced the participants of "4° Celsius entre toi et moi" (4° Celsius Between You and Me), an exhibition that will take place as part of the 3rd Île-de-France Architecture and Landscape Biennial, in Versailles, France, from May 7 to July 13, 2025.
The exhibition is based on the observation that France is expected to experience a temperature rise of +4°C by the year 2100. Its current temperate climate is projected to shift toward a subtropical one. In response, the exhibition turns to warmer latitudes for architectural models that can inform how to build today in France—and in other regions currently considered temperate—an architecture capable of withstanding this increase in heat.

To develop the exhibition, the curators began by inviting more than a dozen universities to study architectural solutions from the past, used in hotter regions before the invention of air conditioning. They then selected 58 contemporary architects already working in southern latitudes, whose practices could offer inspiration for building further north. Lastly, following a call for projects, 15 architects were awarded for presenting their visions of Paris in the year 2100—a future marked by temperatures exceeding 50°C, extended summer heatwaves, and intense rainfall during other seasons.
The exhibition will be accompanied by two publications. The first is a bilingual French-English catalog titled 4° Celsius entre toi et moi, published by ACTAR in Barcelona, which includes reflections by a dozen architecture critics on the aesthetic and social transformations of cities under climate change. The second is a book of literature, published in French by Éditions POINTS, in which ten French-speaking writers place the climate at the center of fictional narratives.
