Located where two rivers come together, the Confederación Hidrográfica Miño and Sil office building will be protected by the official use the building serves. Designed by VAUMM + Taperstudio, their compact and geometrically absolute design aims to turn the new equipment into a reference able to articulate that piece of city. Its pyramidal shape is due to programmatic, functional and corporation itself requirements. More images and architects’ description after the break.
VAUMM shared with us their first prize winning proposal in the competition for the remodeling of Molinao Park and the location of a covered and open fronton in Spain. Their design pretends to be the continuity of the park situated along the riverside and the eastern end of the town to the highway and Don Bosco slope. The fronton (sports space) is situated at the southern end of the park, next to the pedestrian access from the Oarso street bridge, so that releases the largest area of the open space to the north, near the train viaduct and the possible accesses through it to create a space which allows the use of it with temporary uses. The proposal for Zaldibar kindergarten by VAUMM is composed of two buildings, connected by playgrounds. The plan responds to a simple strategy of settlement on the site, which is to get the most out of this relationship between full and empty. The diversity of color and interior cladding, which can be used in each room, make contrast with the external image of two buildings designed to provide an oasis of calm in the stridency and disorder in the external environment.
