As part of the VIII Biennial Ibero-American architecture and urbanism exhibition, Note Gallery will be hosting the presentation of the new book “Itenerarios de Arquitectura 06 – Paulo Mendes da Rocha” by Catherine Otondo and José Paulo Gouvea on Wednesday, February 27th. Following the book presentation, the Architects Conference, featuring Cristina Guedes & Francisco de Campos and Ricardo Bak Gordon Architect, both winners of the VIII Bienal Ibero-americana de Arquitectura e Urbanismo, will take place Thursday, February 28th. The Lisbon Architecture Triennale has announced the panel of judges for this year’s projects. The panel will be composed of important architects like Bjarke Ingels of BIG, Minsuk Cho of Mass Studies, Phillippe Rahm of Philippe Rahm Architects and Luis Santiago Baptista of the journal Arqa.
The theme of the Triennale this year is “Close, Closer” and it intends to initiate a discussion regarding the changing role of the contemporary architect. There will be three exhibitions, a lecture program, a series of electronic publications, student awards, a Debut Award for young architects and a career achievement award.
Taking place February 15-March 31, the 8th Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennial (VIII BIAU)’s ‘With the Sea in Between’ exhibition will be in the Galeria Boavista in Lisbon. The exhibition, which will also include conferences by keynote speakers, represents a selection of exemplary works of architecture, public spaces, publications and research, rewarded at the VIII BIAU. Attendees will be invited to travel through the architecture of the nine countries rewarded: Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Chile.
