MIT’s Festival for Art Science and Technology ‘FAST Light’

’s Festival for Art Science and Technology will culminate this weekend May 7th and 8th with FAST Light, a series of innovative site specific installations around the campus and along the Charles River. Installations by Department of Architecture Head, Nader Tehrani (founder and principal of Office dA and of the newly formed NADAAA), Professor Sheila Kennedy (Principal of Kennedy & Violich Architecture), and Professor Meejin Yoon (Principal of Höweler + Yoon Architecture and ) are among the final river front projects that will light up the night along the river this Saturday and Sunday in front of Killian Court at MIT.

RIVERFIRST / Kennedy & Violich Architecture and Tom Leader Studio

The bi-coastal urban and landscape design team TLS/KVA-Tom Leader Studio (Berkeley) and Kennedy and Violich Architecture (Boston)-were named the winning design team of the Riverfront Design Competition just last week. RIVERFIRST stood out as particularly well suited to the Upper Riverfront in . The team grounded their proposal in proactive outreach to the community, demonstrated extensive research, and posited several multi-­layered solutions unique to these 11 miles of riverfront and the habitat, communities, businesses, infrastructure, and culture intrinsic to the region.
