Carnets. Architecture is Just a Pretext

Carnets. Architecture Is Just a Pretext is a publication that resumes a large research about the state of the art of young Architecture practices in Europe. The work, dealing with architectural practices through a biographic approach, is addressing to the new direction which profession is taking in Europe among young architects.

Carnets is a research project started two years ago by eight architecture students from IUAV University of Venice. The aim is to investigate the current landscape of Architecture in Europe, after the 2008 economical crisis, through interviews, talks, round tables and workshops.

Álvaro Siza and Others Imagine Possible Scenarios for a Reconstructed Syria

Sketch for Syria, a project initiated by by Marco Ballarin and Jacopo Galli at IUAV, Venice, has brought together 150 architects from 26 nations in a large-scale effort to "imagine, trace and share possible scenarios" for Syria, following the recent devastation of the lives of its citizens and a significant amount of its architectural heritage.

In response to the United Nations' (UN-ESCWA) drafting of an agenda on July 14th, 2016 to consider ways of reconstructing the country, this drawing project has attracted contributions from the likes of Álvaro Siza, Philippe Rahm, Peter Wilson, and Francisco Aires Mateus.

Call for Applications: Postgraduate Master in Curatorship of Architecture and Design

The role of the Curator requires a comprehensive and multifaceted training that allows them to move in different contexts and platforms. The contemporary Curator investigates and identifies relevant issues and their relationships to, then, launch through exhibitions a narrative capable of catching the audience’s interest. A Curator’s work, therefore, encourages reflection and promotes new ways of perceiving and understanding architecture and design. The Master in Curatorship of Architecture and Design at IUAV (Venice, Italy) aims to train professionals capable of developing curatorial projects with a solid foundation in theory and critical thinking, coupled with a strong knowledge of strategies in exhibition making.
