ECDM Architects recently designed another housing project (we just shared their Student Housing Project earlier on AD) in the Issy les moulineaux, France.  Entitled ZAC bords de seine the project features retail and mixed service areas in addition to several gardens that create “an intelligent living space that turns to its surrounding environment and weather elements for assistance.”

More about the project after the break.

Valentin apartment / ECDM

By Nico Saieh — Filed under: Interiors , Refurbishment , ,

French architects Emmanuel Combarel Dominique Marrec sent us the transformation of this small apartment, with a clear strategy: Decompartmentalise the place so as to fit out an open plan and elude the demand of an extra room by conceiving in the center of the volume a suspended white cube which generates comic and disconcerting use situations.

Residence Ladoumegue / Student Housing by ECDM

By Sebastian J — Filed under: Housing , , ,

French firm Emmanuel Combarel Dominique Marrec architects (ECDM), designed this student housing building for 190 students in Rue des Petits Ponts, Paris, France.

The project brings together the two main characteristics of the site, the presence of imposing, solid built masses and the indefinite, fleeting landscape of the peripheric boulevard. The program is repetitive by nature: 190 student rooms, for 190 students of the same age, with the same education level. ECDM do not try to confront this repetition but rather create unity and identity, bringing together these 190 individualities. The repetition of a common module generates the façades, creating a monolithic image, contrasting with the lightness and aerial nature of the project.
