CAAT Studio Propose Large Scale Commercial Centre in Isfahan

The Hamedanian, a proposal by CAAT Architecture Studio in collaboration with TTBP, seeks to design a large scale commercial complex in the centre of one of the oldest streets in the Iranian city of Isfahan. If built, the mixed use development, half which is parking facilities, would feature commercial and office space.

Focusing on local architecture, the proposal for the Mosque (Amir Al- Momenin) by CAAT Architecture Studio detaches from everyday life and the approach to worship space in accessing the building. The integrated entity of the proposal plays its role as a religious and cultural center in the region scale while communicating with the environment. To combat the harsh reality of the extreme air pollution caused by urban sprawl in , CAAT Architecture Studio proposed building up, locating massive skyscrapers within the city to house masses of residents centrally. Demolishing unimportant old buildings will create space both for the two legs of the large tower, which is connected above ground to create a wide building expanse, and for green space that will make the urban expanse as a whole more livable.
