‘Fierljep’ Polder and Information Centre / Bureau B+B

The city of is located 430 kilometers north of Beijing in the province of Liaoning and lies 20 kilometers inland. The Longqiwan New Area is an urban development on the coast of the Bonzai Sea. Part of this development is a park, for which Bureau B+B is building a ‘fierljep’ polder and an information centre. This polder-garden will open during the Jinzhou World Landscape Art Exposition in 2013. More images and architects’ description after the break.

Western Red Cedar Architectural Design Awards Winners

The six winners of the Western Red Cedar Architectural Design Awards are presented here.  The competition demonstrated the architects’ abilities to express innovative structural techniques and surfaces in new construction and in renovations using Western Red Cedar.  Winners included Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, Mark Cavagnero Associates, Chadbourne + Doss Architects, Albert de Pineda Álvarez and Manuel Brullet Tenas, Bureau B+B, and Alfred Waugh Architects.

Mr. Visserplein / Bureau B+B

Bureau B+B shared with us their project Mr. Visserplein, a temporary facility for a square in , Netherlands. Mr. Visserplein is one of the most discussed open spaces in the center of , a politically difficult and historically sensitive spot. The current square is the result of a large number of accidental interventions in the past. Little remains of the original urban fabric.
