In 2003, BOLLES + WILSON won a national competition that gained them commission of the new Luxemburg National (BnL Bibliothèque Nationale de ). After years of hibernation, the 39,000 square meter will break ground in 2014.

Peter Wilson Awarded 2013 AIA (Australian Institute of Architects) Gold Medal

Peter Wilson, partner in the Münster based office of BOLLES+WILSON, was recently awarded the AIA‘s (Australian Institute of Architects) highest honor, its 2013 Gold Medal. The recognition acknowledges Peter Wilson’s role as remarkable statesman for Australia as well as an outstanding body of architectural works of great distinction, widely published and exhibited over more than thirty years. The Gold Medal also cites Wilson’s longstanding contribution to the development of architectural drawing as a tool of representation and research. More information on Wilson’s award after the break.

BOLLES+WILSON Receive ‘Brick Award 2012′

Awarded by the Brick Development Association (BDA), BOLLES+WILSON recently received the ‘Brick Award 2012′ for their Raakspoort – City Hall and Bioscoop project in , Netherlands. The jury headed by BDA-Chairman Bob Allies commended a wealth of innovation in brickwork details throughout the building’s intelligent design and its character, which is clearly responding to its contextual surroundings. Out of about 300 projects from across the globe, with 84 shortlisted, this project won the international category ‘Worldwide Brick’. More information after the break.

Moleskine, the legendary manufacturer of tools for creativity, introduces “Inspiration and Process in Architecture”, a collection of cloth-bound monographs, curated and edited by Francesca Serrazanetti and Matteo Schubert, exploring the design process of architects. Bolles+Wilson / A Handbook Of Productive Paradigms

“Established initially in London in 1980 and based in since 1988 the architectural office of Bolles + Wilson has firmly established itself as an international practice underpinned by thorough research and theoretical discourse. This monograph chronicles a variety of projects alongside more than 25 recent buildings that are surveyed through different chapters that cover such areas as urban planning, projects in different foreign countries, architecture and specific designs for the Dutch city of Rotterdam. Accompanied by texts from Julia Bolles-Wilson and Peter Wilson, the survey is generously laid out with colour photographs, technical drawings, models and sketches. Works and projects featured include: the Suzuki House, Tokyo; the Masterplan Falkenried, Hamburg; the Spuimarkt Block, The Hague; DGM Quartier, Magdeburg; the Kaldewei Kompetenz Center, Ahlen; the Münster City ; and the New Luxor Theatre, Rotterdam.”
