Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Announces 2013 National Design Awards Winners

Now in its 14th year, the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt is continuing its legacy to recognize outstanding achievement across a variety of disciplines in the design community.  The awards were established to “promote design as a vital humanistic tool in shaping the world”.  This year the recipients will be honored at a gala in October during National Design Week in New York City.  The goal of recognizing this achievements is to reinforce the idea that “everything around us is designed” and the potential for innovation and creation is present across all types of development. The winners of this year’s design awards were selected based on excellence, innovation and public impact.

AIA California Council’s 2012 Design Award Recipients

The American Institute of Architects, California Council () has announced the 2012 Design Award Recipients. Since 1982, has recognized excellence in architecture and design through the Design Awards Program. An esteemed Design Awards jury has selected these award winners out of 300 submittals. Cooper-Hewitt 2011 National Design Award Winners

Honoring lasting achievement in American design Cooper-Hewitt announced yesterday the winners and finalists of the 2011 National Design Awards. In its 12th year of celebrating outstanding achievement in design, the ’s annually presents this award to various disciplines that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and enhancement of the quality of life.

Garnering first prize for architecture is New York based Architecture Research Office (ARO).  A list of winners and finalists following the break.
