Over the last 5 years Atrium designed 4 headquarters for “Yandex” (the one of the biggest Russian internet companies). Two of them were constructed, the concept from the third project, which wasn’t realized, partly repeated in recently finished 4th one. There are also some other examples of succession as the yellow entrance reception desk, which was taken from the first headquarters. The low partitions with V-plan in open-space zone were used in preceding offices too.

Sky Courts is a 20,000 sqf corporate club house that incorporate short-term housing, office space, and entertainment facilities utilizing the logics of the courtyard and sloped roof. The project packs several courtyards into a defined perimeter and utilizes the sloped roof to accommodate program in the wedge between courtyards, allowing the project to read as 100% courtyard from above. The complex lacks a single center; instead it is a network with multiple centers, and multiple paths, edges and liners. The sequence through these precincts creates a series of layered spaces that line exterior spaces, and views from one courtyard might look through perimeter spaces and into other courtyards.
Yandex is the biggest and leading internet company in Russia, CIS and Russian-speaking countries. The Yandex office in Moscow is the 2nd office by za bor architects designed for this company. The office occupies all seven floors in one of two wings in the newly constructed business center «Krasnaya Roza» (eng: Red Rose) in Moscow. The wing is close to rectangle in section and consequently the office space is concentrated around the technical core with riser pipes. This construction peculiarity made it necessary to create sanitary facilities and other premises that demand water use — such as kitchens and coffee points — around them.

With an earth floor and a glass roof this building, design by Takashi Fujino of Ikimono Architects, experiments with the limits between inside and outside. This is a reoccurring theme among many of Ikimono Architects’s projects. Tradeoffs are enviable in a building of this kind, such as having to use an umbrella to access to the bathroom when it is raining and the hassles that come with an earth floor. The payoffs come in the form of being able to grow plants inside through the floor, gaze at the clouds and stars, listen to the sound of the rain and smell the scent of spring flowers.

Several hundred guests joined Daniel Libeskind in a ceremony last Friday as he laid the foundation stone of the Kö-Bogen building along with Dusseldorf’s Lord Mayor Dirk Elbers, investor Kurt Zech of Zech Group, and project developer Stefan H. Muehling. The stainless steel foundation stone, designed by Libeskind, will be visibly integrated into the facade of the building.
The new 432,300 sqf mixed use building is scheduled for completion in 2013 will house both office and retail space in downtown Dusseldorf. The design of Kö-Bogen intends to naturally blend landscape into the building space through geometry, permeated cuts in the facade, the green courtyards, and green roof system. All of these elements are ‘part of a new environment that bridges urban space with park space’.
