The first prize design by AGM for a new residential and business complex in , Montenegro complements the urban tissue of the very center of the city by adding content and shape to improve the existing quality. The present surrounding is the framework for the creation of an architectural morphology which is to upgrade the input of the location. The Kulturcampus designed for Frankfurt, by Adjaye Associates rests on the idea of grouping a city’s most important cultural institutions into the heart of the city.  The focus is on creating a micro-city on the city that is currently occupied by the University of Frankfurt, which will be vacated in 2014.  This micro-city is intended to be diverse collection of uses that will provide a space of gathering for the adjacent neighborhoods of the campus.

Grimshaw Architects is one of two finalists selected in a competition for the master plan of central , .  The competition brief called for a comprehensive strategy that built upon the international identity of the city – particularly its waterways and the major boulevard running between them.  It also called for an integration of transportation links – a city-wide transformation to streamline the infrastructure and bring vitality into the experience of the city.

MVRDV‘s proposal for an urban development in Almere Oosterworld, , is a template for a project that puts power into the hands of neighborhoods and communities.  This development strategy is bottom-up, inclusive and very intuitive to the needs of individuals and their communities.  It allows the design to develop organically and over a stretch of time as needs change and neighborhoods grow.  MVRDV writes that the proposal “is a revolution in Dutch urban planning as it steps away from governmental dictate and invites organic urban growth in which initiatives are stimulated and inhabitants can create their own neighbourhoods including public green, urban agriculture and roads”.

Now, the country will once again appear on the world stage with a stunning new piece of architecture that alters the perception of what a skyscraper can be and how it connects to the city by inviting life into its balancing heights and visually projecting it back into the urban landscape as a symbol of the multi-cultural society. Beach and Howe Mixed-Use Tower / BIG

Contributing to the skyline, the 490-foot-tall Beach and Howe mixed-use tower by BIG, Westbank, Dialog, Cobalt, PFS, Buro Happold, Glotman Simpson, and local architect James Cheng marks the entry point to downtown, forming a welcoming gateway to the city, while adding another unique structure. BIG’s proposal, named after its location on the corner of Howe & Beach next to the Granville Street Bridge in downtown Vancouver, calls for 600 residential units occupying the 49-story tower, which would become one of the city’s fourth tallest buildings. AllesWirdGut won the first prize of the Esterházy Domain Private Foundation competition for the conversion of a Burgenland Meierhof in a multifunctional complex. The specific nature of the project results from the partially worth protecting historic buildings. The design of AllesWirdGut strengthens existing qualities, but combines the old architecture with contemporary enhancements. Located off Broadway Market, south of Fields in one of the poorer, but upcoming east-end areas, Ada Street accommodates six apartments above two small retail units in an area with the largest number of different languages spoken in the city with the largest population of artist per square kilometer in Europe. With creative shops, bars and clubs to reflect the Local Authority’s more relaxed approach to design aesthetics, Amin Taha Architects formed a structure asymmetrical in appearance with subtly battered and sloping walls and floor plates and a gentle scattering of window openings.
