Dwayne Oyler & Jenny Wu Lecture
SCI-Arc will be presenting the lectures of Dwayne Oyler and Jenny Wu of Oyler Wu Collaborative this Friday, February 10th at 1pm in the W. M. Keck Lecture Hall. Established in Los Angele in 2004, the firm has been published globally and is recognized for its experimentation in design and innovative strategies. Peter Eisenman and Jeffrey Kipnis Lectures at SCI-Arc
Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) will be hosting the lectures of well-renowned architect, Peter Eisenman and architectural theorist, Jeffrey Kipnis at their W.M. Keck Lecture Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Eisenman’s lecture will take place Monday, March 5th at 7pm while Keck’s lecture will be held Tuesday, March 6th at 7pm. SVA MFA Design Criticism Spring 2012 Lecture Series
The School of Visual Arts in New York is hosting their Spring 2012 lecture series which began on February 7 and continues until June 18. Their next lecture, Lunchtime Q&A with Michael Kimmelman, will take place on February 14 at 12:30pm. From public housing and community development to issues of social responsibility, The New York Times’ Michael Kimmelman has already shaken up our traditional notion of what an architecture critic is supposed to cover. In this intimate lunchtime Q&A, Kimmelman will address questions relating to the role of an architecture critic, discuss the possibilities for the future of criticism, and suggest what a burgeoning generation of critics should take notice of. Theories of Urban Practice Graduate Program at Parsons The New School for Design
Launching in fall 2012, Parsons The New School of Design is offering a new graduate program in urbanism in New York City, the MA Theories of Urban Practice. The 2-year, 36-credit research-oriented program is designed for those who want to transform cities through actionable research, strategic knowledge, and critical theories. In other words, knowledge can transform cities! The program will redefine urbanism and urban design as a field of transformative practice.

PennDesign 2012 Spring Lecture Series
Just last month, University of Pennsylvania’s School of Design announced their lecture series for Spring 2012. All lectures are held at 6PM in Meyerson Hall and free and open to the public unless otherwise noted with continuing education credits available. Carnegie Mellon Spring 2012 Lecture Series
Known for drawing in a diverse background of well-known architects, Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture‘s spring 2012 lecture series began January 23rd with Jesse Seppi and concludes with Tatiana Bilbao on April 23rd. All events will take place at the Carnegie Museum complex and the series is co-sponsored by the Heinz Archiectural Center at Carnegie Museum of Art. Massimo Scolari: The Representation of Architecture, 1967–2012 Exhibition
Massimo Scolari: The Representation of Architecture, 1967–2012 is the first U.S. retrospective since 1986 of the eminent Italian architect, artist, and designer. The exhibition, presented by the Yale School of Architecture from February 6 – May 4th, explores the arc of Scolari’s career from 1967 to 2012, with some 160 paintings, watercolors, and drawings, most with architectural and urban subjects; a scaled-down iteration of a monumental sculpture created for the 1991 Venice Biennale; and ten architectural models. Together, these illuminate the complex, ongoing interaction in Scolari’s work between architecture and its methods and mediums of representation. More information on the exhibition after the break. Critical Territories / Groundlab and Plasma Studio
Opening tomorrow at the AA, Critical Territories will share the work of Groundlab and Plasma Studio -two interdisciplinary firms pushing the envelope of the relationship between and the expression of landscape design and architecture. The installation will share the firms’ top projects, such as the Xian International Horticultural Expo which we having been covering extensively on AD, by way of a site-specific grid arrangement of light boxes covered with technical drawings. The organization of the installation will showcase the underlying themes of the practices, namely their systemic approach and preoccupation with grids, ground and context. The exhibit will be run through February 11.
Architectural Workshop by Will Alsop
Ajman University of Science and Technology announced that there will be an architectural workshop by the renowned architect Will Alsop on the theme of ‘Designing a space that will lift the spirit’ to be held at the university itself (AUST), UAE, during the period of January 30-February 2.

Auburn University’s chapter of American Institute of Architecture StudentsA invites you to join them for their annual Internship Fair on March 5th – 6th, 2012. The event allows professional firms the opportunity to meet and interview students of Auburn University and the students are eager to initiate and continue the relationship between participating firms and the students.
The Internship Fair will be held at Auburn University’s Student Center in Auburn, Alabama. In addition to architecture students, students studying landscape architecture, interior architecture, community planning, graphic design and industrial design will be available for interviews. The Campaign for Safe Buildings Symposium
As we all know, natural disasters continue to kill hundreds of thousands each year, and the vast growth of cities with unsafe and unreliable buildings and other infrastructure will only increase the cost of human life and negatively impact local economies. To address this, The Campaign for Safe Buildings, along with The Rubin Foundation and the Yale School of Architecture, is hosting a symposium November 4th and 5th to look closely at safe building initiatives around the world and many of the challenges that stand in the way of keeping natural disasters from turning into man-made catastrophes. 5710 Society Lecture Series
5710 (Fifty Seven Ten) Society recently announced their lecture series for 2011-2012. The series kicks off with an opening party on September 29th and runs until April 26th.
The lecture series will be held at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and The Built Environment in Aberdeen, Scotland. It is a non-profit organisation run by students, which invites guest speakers to lecture in the School. Speakers are usually practicing architects of interest to students and to the school, and the society aims to create a link between architectural education and architectural practice. Pratt Institute 2011 Fall Lecture Series
Pratt Institute School of Architecture fall lecture series will feature several large names in architecture along with their continuing exhibition of Latin American architecture and with strong emphasis on disaster architecture. All lectures to take place on the Brooklyn Campus will begin at 6 pm in the Higgins Hall Auditorium at 61 St. James Place, unless otherwise noted.
All Manhattan Campus lectures will begin at 6:30 pm and will take place at 144 West 14th Street, Room 213. All lectures are free and open to the public.
