Sandra Janser and Elisabeth Koller won first prize in the design competition: Design Month Graz 2010 project, “Ready. Steady. Go.” that called for a catalyst for the resettlement of the Jakomini district, in Graz, Austria, through the promotion of activities and attractiveness of the neighborhood through its revitalization. Their proposal was the installation of a visual frame, one that would serve as a marker for significant design areas with a visible and positive identity.

The Department of Economic and Tourism Development and the City Management of Graz collaborated with Creative Industries Styria to initiate the urban development program “Jakominiviertel” in the Jakomini district.
The visual frame under the proposal is to define streets Jakoministraße and Klosterwiesgasse of the Jakomini district. The north and south street endings clearly delineate the entrance and passage through the district. What the visual frame serves to do is revitalize these two main streets giving them a fresh and inviting look for citizens and visitors to want to explore.
The proposal takes the form of a running track, which was applied in September 2010. It attracts the attention of passersby and residents with its vibrant color and gets people to stop and observe their new surroundings. The track is a total of 750 meters, painted in a bright red and is lined with gray.
