[...] This single storey house was designed by architects of Sou Fujimoto Architects and features a unique interior design. The modern exterior is just simple, the circular house boasts black and multi angles façade with some small windows. The show begins from the inside, the architects designed the modern interior with open concept from one room to others while keeping the privacy and distinctive living areas for each room via the arrangement of the walls. The more private areas were designed with narrower walls while the public areas were designed with open design walls. From the master bedroom clockwise you would find the main public area; kitchen and dining room, child’s room 2, bathroom, child’s room 1, Japanese-style room, piano room and study room in one full circle. According to the architects; “making one step forward, one would suddenly see a different space of different depth that was hidden behind the wall a moment before.” This house is located in Gunma, Japan. See the floor plan after the jump. -Via Arch Daily [...]

[...] Who knew a primitive one-room home could be so… oh, what’s the word? Modern? Creative? Innovative? Totally awesome?? This cool house designed by Sou Fujimoto Architects takes “open concept” to a new level. Located in Gunma, Japan, this eccentric house was designed for a family of four with a love for art and clearly, for architecture as well. What’s most unique about this modern home is the interesting floor plan, which connects each room to the others, all the while maintaining a sense of privacy and distinctive living areas. The main area of the house is occupied by a kitchen and living/dining room. Clockwise from this central space, you’ll find a child’s bedroom, a bathroom, a second child’s bedroom, a Japanese-style room, the piano room, a study, and the master bedroom, which brings you full-circle back to the kitchen. Depending on the function of the room, some walls are positioned with a wide entrance, while others narrow, allowing for either privacy in the space, or company. What really strikes me in this convoluted design “drawn with one stroke”, is the concept of constant change of scenery – “making one step forward, one would suddenly see a different space of different depth, that was hidden behind the wall a moment before.” Sou Fujimoto Architectsvia Arch Daily [...]

I have to wonder what it's like to be in the study room, though apart from that they did a pretty good job making usable spaces out of odd shapes. That could be useful for recording studio acoustics.

You guys must get spikes for Sou Fujimoto posts since House N. I wish there were a few more photos of this project; it's hard to get a good sense of the space.
