Call for Registrations and Submission

The 2017 AIA Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards registration is now open to projects in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx; In collaboration with AIA Staten Island and AIA Bronx.

With the growth of new development and renovation in our boroughs over the past five years, our professional associations are excited to collaborate on this event tailored to professions of the built environment that we all share.

In its second annual celebration, the Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards (BQDA) was established to encourage excellence in architectural design, raising public awareness of the built environment and to honor the architects, owners & builders of significant projects. The AIA Brooklyn and AIA Queens Chapters now in collaboration with AIA Staten Island and AIA Bronx Chapters will honor and recognize the best architecture and professionals that Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx can offer.

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting entries in the Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx areas for the 2017 Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards!

Registration deadline: March 30th, 2017, 11:59 PM
(Per Entry Registrations are $250 for AIA Brooklyn, AIA Queens, AIA Staten Island, and AIA Bronx chapter members; $300 for non chapter members; $100 for unbuilt category; $50 for students)

The Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards Program will recognize significant architectural and landscape projects that are in Brooklyn. Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx since 2012. We are inviting architects to submit projects in various categories (residential, commercial, institutional, etc) which will be evaluated by a jury of architects who will select the award-winning projects. We also have a category for student projects as well as projects that were designed but unbuilt.

Entries are encouraged from design firms or teams of architects of any age or experience level, provided they are working under a licensed architect for all major categories. Unbuilt categories and student works do not require the work to be under a licensed architect.

The 2017 winners will be recognized at the BQDA Awards Gala and if attending, presented with the Award. The winners of the 2017 BQDA will also be featured in a publication to be distributed digitally through AIA New York State.

The Awards per category will be as follows:

BQDA Excellence Award | Represent the highest level of achievement for category
BQDA Merit Award | Represents distinguished achievement for category
BQDA Student Award | Represent student distinguishment for category
BQDA People’s Choice Award | Award winners will be posted online for the public to choose their choice to receive this recognition
BQDA 2017 Best in Brooklyn Award | Jurors will select one entry project in Brooklyn to receive this recognition.
BQDA 2017 Best in Queens Award | Jurors will select one entry among in Queens to receive this recognition.
BQDA 2017 Best in Staten Island Award | Jurors will select one entry among in Staten Island to receive this recognition.
BQDA 2017 Best in Bronx Award | Jurors will select one entry among in Bronx to receive this recognition.
