[...] The harsh weather of the Australian Outback can make the construction of any dwelling in South Stradbroke Island, Queensland a challenging task. This cottage, crafted to replicate the cool and refreshing Bahamas, was designed by Arkhefield architects and has a special space and environment conscious design to maximize resources. Built on an isolated part of the Island, the space offers a combination of both public space and private seclusion by adopting a design where the edifice is split in half for each purpose exclusively. At the same time, the ultra-cool interiors clubbed with an exterior design that is capable of withstanding the harsh weather makes the Couran Point house a perfect retreat. It sure looks and feels like a cozy holiday spot with the bamboo cladding and the bright, beach-styled interiors. [via ArchDaily] [...]
