Lisbon Architecture Triennale - The Form of Form

We’re only one month away from the 2016 Lisbon Architecture Triennale, The Form of Form. Join us in Lisbon for the opening week from October 5 to 9, and enjoy a full programme that celebrates architecture’s fundamental principles.

The world is transformed through architecture. This edition sets out to further the debate on contemporary approaches to architectural practice. We consider architecture as a profession that is always committed to its complex social context; this understanding expands the implications of architectural decisions, enhancing their technical and cultural importance in society. An extraordinary set of events will highlight the diversity of Lisbon’s urban landscape, inviting the public to explore unexpected places, discovering new routes in the city and its surroundings. The four main exhibitions are:

The Form of Form explores ideas of authorship and the visual universe originating from the architectural form, inviting visitors to a visually captivating experience.

Building Site focuses on the processes, interests and contradictions affecting architectural forms in the decisive moment of their construction.

The World in Our Eyes presents different ways in which the urban and territorial conditions are represented, as well as the ability of these representations to guide the design process and expand architecture beyond its disciplinary boundaries.

Sines: Seaside Logistics delves into the critical circumstances that influence the transformation of landscape in the city of Sines, bringing together projects developed by Portuguese students.

Satellites
Seven satellites, from installations to publications or one-off events, which will unfold around Lisbon and its outskirts, expanding the geographical reach of the event, and presenting a variety of perspectives coming from different generations.

Talk, Talk, Talk
Three-day series of conferences reuniting prominent architects, researchers and players in the international architectural scene to engage in discussions about the issues raised by The Form of Form.Full programme.
Early bird tickets until September 30

Additionally, the Associated Projects will widen the discussion and the exploration of new architectural paths. More than 100 participants from 5 continents will bring diverse views on architecture and surrounding disciplines. The programme extends throughout the city of Lisbon, with the main exhibitions at key venues such as Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Garagem Sul Centro Cultural de Belémand the new MAAT, Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology—with which we share the inaugural date (October 5), making this a day to celebrate architecture and culture in Lisbon.
