Text description provided by the architects. Break Point 2.0 is a new pizzeria restaurant which stays on the edge of the public urban park of Bondeno, a small town in north east Italy. The context is characterized by two high landmarks : the chimney of a former clay furnace, and the bell tower of San Giovanni’s church.
The project strategy is modelling a solid surface that frames seamlessly the two landmarks that characterize the environment. Oq project created a ground floor building, with a "L" asymmetric plan made of two independent dining rooms and an external summer cafè, connected by a continuous concrete paving that situates an inner courtyard. Service rooms are hidden inside; kitchen, storage and working areas with show cooking stay inside two larch wooden boxes.
The main hall, which overlooks the pizza oven, lays out on the north facade and frames the view of San Giovanni’s Church. The second room with a more private vocation reaches out the view of to the old furnace. Those two settings can be lived independently, so as to reduce power consumption in case of partial use.
At the entrance there is a waiting room for customers of the takeaway service. The entire room opens onto the courtyard, a true reading of the courts farmhouses Ferrara, through a continuous glass facade, opened at different points to access to the garden.
The roof extends its surface outside creating spaces for seasonal use. A covered shelter on the north side allows the pizzeria to have a direct open air dining space on summer, close to the independent bar for the public service of urban park.
