AIPH International Green City Conference

AIPH and Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) invites all those with an interest in making our cities healthier and happier to join them in Vancouver, Canada on 16-18 March 2016 for the AIPH International Green City Conference, sponsored by TD Canada. The event will be held in conjunction with the AIPH Spring Meetings, the ELCA Board Meetings and the Landscape Canada Summit. The conference will give delegates a chance to see innovations in urban green infrastructure and planning on a global scale.

It will cover topics including:

  • Using Living Roofs and Walls to combat stormwater threats and improve health
  • Measuring and quantifying Living Green Infrastructure assets
  • Developing new communities using principles of green sustainability
  • Improving society with greening
  • New ‘Garden Cities

Speakers from all over the world, including USA, China, Indonesia, Netherlands and Canada, will present what they are doing, share case studies and inspire delegates. International speakers will include Professor Li Xiong, Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture at Beijing Forestry University who will speak from his vast experience of greening Chinese cities and creating whole new green cities. Egbert Roozen, Director of the Dutch Landscape & Garden Contractors Association in The Netherlands will use real-life examples to demonstrate how greening can be used to overcome city challenges.

The former Mayor of Vancouver and Past Premier of British Columbia, Mike Harcourt, will talk about the journey being taken by Vancouver with its aim to be the greenest city in the world by 2020. Other speakers include Steven Peck, President of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and Professor Daniel Roehr from The School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of British Columbia.

Delegates will also take part in walking and bus ‘Green City Tours’ of Vancouver and benefit from a network of delegates from around the world.
