I think the outer "skin", if you may, is meant to represent the sound proof walls used in recording studios and in other sound specific rooms- " black rubber quilt is intended as a literal translation of the need to acoustically contain the building’s use contained within." Love the design. But i think the students using this facility could use more natural light than that. I absolutely love this, a subtle design, but a great contrast to its surroundings.
