Mirage House / Supersudaka

We featured Chilean firm Supersudaka several times previously on AD because we enjoy their architectural philosophy – especially their claim that, “We don’t want to change the world with architecture, we want to change architecture with the world.” For their Mirage House, the client could not make a decision about what to build on his 5000 m2 plot, leading Supersudaka to think up an interesting solution.

Supersudaka responded with an “infinite context” – a promenade that wraps itself, creating different places in, on and around it.  This way, the residence could transform to suit different programmatic components as the client wishes, and these element would not affect each other.

The architects envisioned this loop as a necklace and different jewels would appear as the client desired different programmatic elements.

The main residence is situated at the intersection of the loop, reaching out to the promenade.  The design is focused toward the large open areas the promenade contains as a way to connect the separated jewels with the heart of the residence.
