Text description provided by the architects. The design project begins its journey from several starting points:

On one hand local, singular and risky both in its form and its location, demands from us a strong response. We find a space with a small and narrow facade in an active street in Barcelona: a space that expands, relaxes and fills with light as the block is traversed to reach the courtyard, where the premise opens onto a large terrace.

On the other hand the three clients and the values they aspire to convey with their second restaurant, Disfrutar, with which they make the leap to the city of Barcelona from their first Compartir in Cadaqués, after years of work as chefs in the restaurant El Bulli along with Ferran Adrià. Definitely a unique and risky client, who speaks from the first meeting of the importance of quality, naturalness and humility in his kitchen. His proposal is intended to convey something of the essence of the Mediterranean, from the respect to the history and heritage of their peoples and a privileged and beautiful nature, and to the admiration of its craftsmen, artists and architects that have transformed that essence into beautiful pieces. A vital attitude that invites us to experience with all five senses and enjoy the pleasure of the good life and good food.

Distribution and spaces

We try to intervene in the premises with the same special forcefulness with which it is presented through some key decisions. On the one hand we clearly differentiate two spaces or two rooms, one more urban and active towards the city, where the bar and winery are located, and a more natural and leisurely space toward the central courtyard, where the main dining room and the terrace are located. And in the center of the space and as a link are the kitchen, the heart of the restaurant, a space that the client traverses opening up to his curious gaze.

Materials and environment

Ceramics accompany throughout the journey, approaching us to the values that our client intends to convey: naturalness, humility and respect for the history and heritage of the Mediterranean. But in each of the spaces it is transformed into a new material that helps us to provide each zone with its uniqueness.

The access area seeks more urban references, such as the metal structures of the Ninot market located across the street, and ceramics are used in a colorful way, almost artistically, with monochrome surfaces of tiles that surround us as if it were a great deconstructed "Miró" mural.

The kitchen is the oven, real and metaphorical, the space where all stories of the house are cooked. The ceramics are used in their most humble and plain format, pieces of freshly baked bricks in their original earth color build a permeable limit to the view of the customer, and show the interior of this furnace, gold and hot.
