If anything, this approach underscores the inherit difference between a rational, regular grid, and an organic system, regardless of whether each tree was studied for particular characteritics and they happened to be planted in a grid. This studied quality of site isn’t translated into the architecture whatsoever other than the superficial mimicry of that tree grid.

Yeah, I think that the flat ceiling throughout leaves it feeling a bit oppressive. I understand the desire to keep the low profile in the orchard but it might have been a little better if they could have worked in some coffers, vaults, skylights or something.
