Text description provided by the architects. The historical origin of this place explains the unconventionnal position of the building as well as its rural character. Four buildings were creating a courtyard which was located at a path outside of the city. In the meantime this arrangement of buildings with its massive stock of trees had been enclosed by the city.

Thanks to its offset the new strong volume is adapted to the granularity of the adjacent buildings. The arrangement of the floor plan finds its correspondence in the section: Both parts of the building are placed shifted to each other within following the terrain. Each of the eight rental appartments is characterized by a living space exposed on three sides. The rooms which are neutral of use are all southeast oriented. The top of the building constitutes a roof terrace which can be accessed by a lift.

The rear position of the building is thematically assigned to outdoor space. According to the vertical stripes structure of the surrounding tree trunks, the fassade is also cladded with a vertical glazed wood. This abstract appearance of the fassade strengthens the connection of the building to the landscape. The irregular wooden stripes and their specific staining in different shades of green and blue refer to the bark of the massive lime tree which is close to the building.
