Text description provided by the architects. The lot has a topography binding because of the altitude difference from the entrance fee at the border towards the valley , more than four meters in depression. The idea of the project is in full harmony with the client , was to not intervene in a massive field , restricting their movements , avoiding as much as possible the use of reinforced concrete. Looking at the exposure of the lot and its slopes rise to the possibility of developing the building in length , on one floor , which unfolds in three sections differently inclined respectful of the existing shares of the land.

Architecture " single level " that is placed and winds seeming lying on the lawn from where you pick up visually through a profile in oxidized iron , in order to obtain an architecture that is a veritable compendium of the landscape and not a forced insertion. The choice of construction makes the building project fits in the silent landscape context . The idea of detachment from the soil has allowed us to implement a package strongly draining to ground level through a stratification that allows to optimize the insulation of avoiding heat losses and simultaneously to drain the rainwater infiltration and avoid ascents humidity .

Detail Section

The entire structure rests on a plateau at the AC housing already inside all the steps and lift plant . For the entire shape of the auditorium rests on a layer of 40 cm , highly draining and insulation , cellular glass . Our goal was to achieve the implementation of a real passive house. The choice was to realize a structure to dry completely in wood with a large remission of weights accidents on facilities, avoiding to be very invasive to the foundation level whereas also the clay soil of the site.

Our proposal is based , from the point of view of energy systems with immediate response times , which can be heated in a short time , which refer to a high technological content and use alternative energy sources such as solar , reducing its energy of operation. The entire structure is made of solid wood panels X- LAM five layers of spruce , panels that provide a remarkable dimensional stability and structural strength due to their composition in layers bonded to each other crosswise.

Process

The panels X - LAM were used both for the realization of the load-bearing perimeter walls , both for floors and for the coverage . This type of prefabrication is based on the use of modular elements easily achievable away from the yard into blocks pre-cut , then assembled on site by means of suitable fastening systems with a considerable saving in terms of execution time . The intention of the project was paramount to not make a wooden house on something that is not, or emulation of a brick house .

Our idea of architecture stands out and detaches completely from ' work in this direction ; fiction , which all too often we are spectators , approve construction and ways of life that seem photocopies in different places. The tradition and history teaches that architecture is an expression of their inner structure and material. Our design intent is not intended to hide the actual structure of the building but but rather to exalt nature, in its material , color and shape . Our project was born from earth and wood.

Predominant building material and tradition, it becomes an expression of our structure. With its colors and its fragrance symbolizes the changing of the seasons , aging and becomes saturated blends with the surrounding landscape even more conforming in color. The typical form gable is the result of a contemporary classic type of mountain places . The peculiarity may perhaps be derived from having the elongated shape following the natural contours of the land , but they are not unusual in the mountain villages , buildings of ancient workmanship, long and narrow , intended mostly to ecclesiastical use ( such as San Vigilio St. Bernard and Our Lady of the Snows ) .

The variation in our case is the folding of the three part construction congenial to the possibility of an optimal development of the housing functions inside. The three sections penetrate varying its width : from the north -west that occupies the shelter for the car , in the middle with a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom and the dining room, to the bottom south -east where you will find the master bedroom with the bathroom and the living room facing downstream toward the woods . Prominent feature of the house is the partition of the shape into two equal parts along the line of the ridge. This division includes the entire length of the house rilegando the upstream and downstream parts of service one room, deliberately divided , which summarizes the common and private space , a vantage point for nature is reflected in the large windows .

Portions placed on the south- west windows also allow you to welcome light and warmth in the winter months more rigid. The intent of the project is to use a single material " wood " to synthesize the whole. A house fully integrated in nature and rich in nuances as there are the changing seasons. The colors are in full consonance with the wooded environment downstream and upstream from the visual structure seems almost lost set in the changing colors as the seasons . The precast panels in X- LAM properly milled and tapped it possible to realize and solve complex structural problems by eliminating unnecessary pilastrature using only the central spine of the house and the large padded riquadranti the windows origami created to support the foot of the wide coverage with different inclinations .

The choice of wood , also helped to achieve , through appropriate packages and layers of insulation , a ' home completely "passive" without the need for any type of heating system. E ' was produced , both for walls , both for the floor to cover a high performance package made with four layers of rock wool of different densities ( two 100 kg / m³ and two from 70kg/mc ) for one total thickness of 24 cm plus a layer of ventilation of 5 cm with breathable waterproof sheet before coating and of the axon larch 4 cm thick . Sliding shutters , covered with the same wood of the house, run along all openings .

Floor Plan

When closed they allow a "version" Night of the house that looks like a ' single block of the same material throughout its length as if to recall the old barns or sheds for the shelter of the wood . As for the plant habitation "works" and heats eslusivamente through a system of controlled mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. The system is indispensable in a passive house as if you were using the ventilation through the windows the desired energy savings together with the quality of 'air would never be possible . The system is highly efficient and silent need little electricity for operation. The hot air coming out of the kitchen and pulled out from the baths is ducted to a heat exchanger where the flow of ' cold air inlet will receive up to 90 % of the heat .

The supply air is thus fed back into the common areas of the house such as the living room and bedrooms . The presence of a system of this type ensures excellent quality of the air itself and the correct percentage of moisture getting ever vitiated air and exhausted . In the upstream part of the lot were installed a tank to collect rainwater for watering the lawn and adequate solar panels for domestic hot water production .
