i don't really like the shape of the building. but the diagrid system( diagonal bracing )made it look interesting.
actually i don't see it as crystal, because the tube shape make it look more like a pipe than a crystal.
The other good thing about the diagrid system besides giving it an interesting facade, is that the plans will be column-free, and it allows the maximum natural light through the building.

sustainability_energy efficient_breeam and so on....I can't stand it anymore - sometimes only excuses for tasteless architecture.
why do they all try to fool us with full glass buildings that are not sustainable at all? In 20 years or so we will look at this style and wish it was never been build, when we realized it was not the answer

It's worth noting that Breeam 'excellent' ratings dont go anywhere near making a building like this green. the ratings emphasise thinks like cycle parking and plant species as much as energy consuption. it's relatively straightforward to get the rating with some creative report writing on a standard building.

and i wouldn't trust shepherd to make anything iconic.. it's just another blob.

It just looks like a hybrid of 30 St Mary Axe and London City Hall, both by Foster and Partners.
